The City of Hamilton council approved a package of routine administrative items during its meeting, including a change to the next meeting date, personnel actions, a small vendor contract, a surplus-vehicle sale process and a partial insurance payment.
Council voted to change the next scheduled meeting to Tuesday, Jan. 20 because Monday, Jan. 19 is the Martin Luther King holiday. The council also approved the minutes from the Dec. 15 meeting and the accounts payable bills for December 2025 by voice vote with no opposition.
On procurement and contracts, the council approved a social media development and maintenance agreement with Gary Wayne Mays for $3,000, to be paid at $250 per month over 12 months. Council also declared a 1990 Chevrolet CK20 pickup (VIN last four digits 0896) as surplus equipment from the Water Department and authorized accepting sealed bids; the vehicle may be inspected at the wastewater treatment plant at 300 Wastewater Plant Road Monday–Friday, 7AM–3PM. Bids will be accepted until 12:00 noon on 01/20/2026 and opened at 2:00 PM that day; payment will be accepted by cash, cashier's check or money order and the vehicle must be removed from city property by the buyer.
On personnel, the council approved posting a job opening for a POST-certified law enforcement officer to fill an existing Hamilton Police Department vacancy; the chief explained the department will accept post-certified applicants first and, if that pool is insufficient or applicants fail to meet qualifications, will open applications to non-certified candidates after January 16. The application deadline was stated as January 2026 before 5 PM and applications must be picked up and returned to the Hamilton Police Department; the department said it will share the posting link on its Facebook page.
Financially, the council approved a partial payment of $59,652.53 toward the city's estimated 2026 municipal workers' compensation insurance premium, noting a projected annual premium of $83,619.53; the final premium will be determined after an audit of payroll and claims history and the remaining balance will be voted on at a later council meeting.
Mayor announced that city business licenses expired on Dec. 31 and must be renewed by Jan. 31 to avoid penalties; the Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet Jan. 15 at 6 PM at City Hall to consider a variance on Spruce Street. The council adjourned after taking these routine actions.
The council's next meeting was set for Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6 PM.
