Pleasant Valley board approves consent items, personnel moves and contract to support Act 80 reporting

During its Dec. 4 meeting the Pleasant Valley School District board approved the usual consent and business agenda items, including personnel recommendations, curriculum items and several business contracts.
The board approved items 21 b–f (personnel) and items 22–24 as presented. On business items, the board voted to authorize a contract with Berkheimer to prepare Act 80 reports that assist the district in recovering payroll-withholding allocations that may have been routed to the employer’s township rather than an employee’s home township. The secretary explained the function of the Act 80 report and said the district expects recovered amounts to exceed the contract cost.
A board member asked whether the Act 80 arrangement is cost-effective in low-return years; the secretary responded it typically yields more revenue than the contract expense and that the district expects a net return this year.
Other approved items included curriculum proposals previously discussed and building-report attachments for December. Where motions were made and seconded, the chair called for voice votes and the motions carried.
Next steps: the district will execute the Berkheimer contract and continue to monitor recoveries from Act 80 reporting; approved personnel actions will be processed by Human Resources.
