Pleasant Valley capital committee: science wing, auditorium demolition and MEP work to continue through 2026

The capital improvements committee told the Pleasant Valley School District board that major renovation work at the high school is progressing and that several phases are scheduled through next summer.
Mr. Berger reported that JCM classrooms are expected to be completed by the end of the year, allowing class transitions during the holiday break. Work on administrative spaces, cafeteria additions and mechanical systems continues and is scheduled to run through August 2026.
He said the school bus parking lot is now open and parking slots are being reallocated, which should relieve staff and teacher parking pressure. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing demolition for the next phase is planned to begin in January 2026 and abatement work will be performed during the December break. The old auditorium demolition is scheduled to start in mid-December, two weeks earlier than originally planned.
Board members asked clarifying questions about how many teachers and classes would relocate to JCM, furniture timing and supports for affected teachers; administration said plans are in place to assist teachers and to stage moves during the break so disruption is minimized.
No formal votes were required on the update; the committee noted further operational changes (traffic pattern adjustments for spring semester) would be communicated by administration.
