The Scituate School Committee took several formal actions at its Jan. 5 meeting:

• Minutes approved: The committee moved to approve minutes from its Dec. 22, 2025 meeting; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

• Quebec City field trip approved: The committee approved an out-of-country overnight trip for the district’s French class to Quebec City. The trip organizer said the itinerary (Thursday–Saturday) would partner with Jump Street Tours, the projected cost per participant was about $750, and the committee approved the trip for the May 14–16, 2026 dates after clarifying the schedule.

• Capital reserve account approved: The committee approved a motion to allow the South Shore Educational Collaborative to create a capital reserve account funded by tuition surpluses (see separate article). The collaborative said DESE requires approvals by member districts as part of the process.

All votes taken in open session were approved by voice vote; the transcript records committee members responding "Aye" but does not include a roll-call tally of individual member votes.
