Radnor Township School District swears in new directors; Liz Duffy elected president

The Honorable Sloan Walker administered the oath of office to new directors. Thomas Lee repeated the oath, saying, “I, Thomas Lee, do solemnly swear or affirm ... that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity.” Sarah Hultman Dunn, Susan Stern and Lydia Solomon each recited the same oath and were congratulated after taking the oath.
Before the oath administration, a member of the public, Mr. Moore, offered remarks praising outgoing director Dr. Babson for eight years of service, saying, “He was someone who cared so much about kids and every decision he made was with that in mind,” and thanked Sarah Dunn for her leadership.
The board then moved to elect officers. Liz Duffy was nominated for board president; with no further nominations and no public comment on the officers, the chair recorded the vote as 9 to 0 in favor of Duffy. The board then elected Susan Stern as vice president by the same 9 to 0 margin.
After the votes, the newly seated president offered brief remarks thanking Sarah Dunn for her prior leadership and pledged to be a listener and to seek decisions that reflect the board majority while supporting district staff and continuous improvement for students.
With officers in place and newly elected directors sworn in, a motion to adjourn was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote, and the reorganization meeting concluded.
Next steps: the board said it will reconvene a special meeting immediately following the reorganization session to take up regular legislative business.
