At its Jan. 5 meeting, the Caldwell City Council swore in newly elected officials and unanimously elected Diana Register as council president.
Mayor (speaker identified in the transcript as the presiding official) explained that Idaho law requires the council to elect a council president at the first meeting in January after newly elected members are sworn in. Councilor Stadek nominated Diana Register ‘‘for her honesty and integrity, her availability to taxpayers, her research ability … and her openness to all taxpayers,’’ and a councilor seconded the nomination. The roll-call vote returned yes votes from all councilors present, and the presiding official announced that Diana Register was elected council president.
Earlier in the meeting, because there was no acting mayor or council president at the start of the session, the council followed city code to elect an acting council president for the initial portion of the meeting; Councilor Allgood was nominated and served as acting council president during the opening proceedings. Several members were sworn in at the start of the meeting; the transcript records oaths for individuals including Scott Tillmach, Diana Register and Eric Phillips.
The council completed routine reports and adjourned; the presiding official noted the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026.
