Peachtree City City Council voted to move forward with design of two new concrete box tunnels to replace existing corrugated tunnels under Crosstown Road.

An unidentified speaker noted motorists and golf-cart users have scraped the low corrugated tunnels and said the new concrete box tunnels will be 14 feet wide with an 8-foot ceiling. The tunnels were referred to by local nicknames — the 'Taco Bell tunnel' and the 'bank tunnel' — and the council said design work will begin now with construction likely to occur within the next year or two.
