Tracy Brown was nominated for president and Tom Murtaugh for vice president during the Tippecanoe County Board of Commissioners meeting on Jan. 5, and the nominations were approved by voice vote after no further nominations were offered.
The board then approved three sets of minutes from December meetings and ratified payroll dated Dec. 14 and Dec. 27, 2025. Commissioners adopted a resolution establishing the 2026 meeting schedule — generally the first and third Mondays, with exceptions for February and September holidays — by voice vote.
The board approved a resolution listing department-head appointments for 2026, which named, among others, William Robinette as Building Commissioner; Kent Croft as Chief Information Officer; Corey George as Community Corrections Executive Director; Jeff Houston as Emergency Management Executive Director; Andrew Klein as Fairgrounds Property Manager; Stuart Klein as Highway Executive Director; and Rebecca Humphrey as Youth Services Director. The commissioners also confirmed numerous appointments to county boards and commissions, including representatives to the Area Plan Commission, Redevelopment Commission and the Tippecanoe County Board of Health.
Actions were taken by motion and voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded for these organizational items. The board closed organizational business and proceeded to other agenda items.
