The Franklin County Salary Board convened during the commissioners’ reorganization meeting and approved a series of personnel actions, including adoption of the county pay grade listing and multiple departmental rosters.
During roster reviews, the sheriff asked the board to abolish four vacant part‑time security officer positions. The sheriff said removing the fallow positions reduced the office’s total security staff, noting, "It will bring my security staff force down to 13 total staff. So from 19 in 2024 down to 17 and then 17 down to 13 now with a reduction of 4." After discussion the board approved the abolition of the four vacant positions by voice vote.
Veterans Affairs staff requested a change to a temporarily part‑time veterans affairs coordinator position. Josh Perry told the board that workload and visitation levels support returning the role to full time: "[The position] needs to be a full time position," and the Salary Board voted to restore the coordinator to full‑time status.
The board also approved the pay grade listing and scale, and confirmed rosters for multiple offices including the sheriff, controller, district attorney and courts. Commissioners clarified which roster items required Salary Board action and which were outside the Salary Board's purview; an amendment later removed tax collector compensation from the Salary Board action on elected officials' compensation.
The Salary Board adjourned after approving the minutes and the listed actions; several roster items and changes will be implemented administratively per department procedures.
