The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District board used its Nov. 17 meeting to honor three departing directors for their years of service and leadership.
Board members and administrators paid tribute to Mary Kate Loomis, Elise Anderson and Jeff Hellrung. Remarks described Loomis’s local history, PTO service and contributions to communications and board calendar planning; members noted that she will leave to pursue full-time student teaching.
Elise Anderson were recognized for a decade on the board, work on the curriculum council and cofounding the Wellness Council, and for helping maintain continuity during the district’s superintendent transition. The board presented Anderson with a Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) 10-year service certificate.
Jeff Hellrung received remarks highlighting two decades of service, his work on later school start times, full-day kindergarten, a restorative discipline approach and fiscal discipline. Speakers described Hellrung as a mentor to newer members and credited him with strengthening board onboarding and decorum. Hellrung reflected on past superintendents and emphasized the district’s mission-first values.
Board members said the departing directors helped shape district policy and practices across academics, wellness and governance. The board also welcomed its newly elected and appointed members and reminded the public of the organizational meeting on Dec. 4 when new members will be sworn in.
