The Coffey County Commission carried a series of routine and operational motions during its January meeting.
The board approved the minutes of Dec. 29 and Dec. 31 by voice vote. Commissioners authorized the chairman to sign seven tax abatements totaling $17,317.90. The commission voted to waive competitive bidding and approved an annual Peopleware agreement with Computer Information Concepts (CIC) of Greeley, Colorado, for $46,820 (an increase of $790 over 2025), to be paid from the Courthouse General Contractual line item.
Personnel actions included approval of a CP2 payroll notice for Casey Perree, changing classification and wage from $26.71 to $30.30 effective Dec. 16, 2025. The board also approved Road & Bridge purchases under Sourcewell municipal pricing: two additional 2025 Bush Hog wing rotary cutters for $53,100 (funded from General Fund public works equipment) and a 60-inch Diamond mulcher from Murphy Tractor & Equipment for $26,500.
The commission approved a Federal-aid construction engineering inspection agreement with KDOT for project number 16C-5348-01 to replace County Bridge 2 (described as 5.5 miles east and 0.8 miles north of Levo, Kansas). Commissioners also authorized entering a 15-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel job performance under the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KSA 75-4319(b)(1)).
All motions recorded in the meeting were carried by voice vote; the meeting transcript records the standard voice tally of "All in favor, say aye," followed by "Aye. Motion carries."
