The Town of Princeton adopted a Cape Fear Hazard Mitigation resolution at its Jan. 5 meeting, replacing the town’s previous Neuse River‑titled document and directing the town to pursue measures to mitigate identified hazard risks.

The board said the resolution is intended to promote the public health, safety and general welfare of residents and to align local hazard mitigation planning with state guidance. A staff member referenced North Carolina statutes governing municipal mitigation efforts during the discussion.

The motion to accept the resolution was seconded and carried by a recorded voice vote, described by the chair as 4–0.
