The Adrian City Commission on Jan. 5 approved a resolution establishing an industrial development district at 800 Liberty Street and authorized the city to apply for a FY2029 Small Urban Grant with a required 20% local match.
During a brief public hearing on the industrial development district (800 Liberty St.), the chair called for public comment, received none and closed the hearing. Resolution R26‑1, presented by community development, was moved and seconded and passed on a roll‑call vote; one commissioner offered that they were “thrilled that this is moving along.”
Separately, the commission adopted Resolution R26‑002 from engineering to authorize the city administrator and the director of engineering services to apply for the FY2029 Small Urban Grant and to assure a 20% match if the grant is awarded. The motion to authorize the application passed on roll call; the resolution text recorded the city’s assurance to provide the local match should the grant be approved.
Both measures were approved by roll call with commissioners present voting in favor. The resolutions direct staff to proceed with the application and to return to the commission with next steps if grant‑funding is awarded.
