During its January organizational meeting, the Sartell–St. Stephen School Board confirmed its standing committees and made representative appointments to several district and regional bodies.
The board agreed to retain four standing committees — communications & technology, finance & personnel, board policy, and facilities — and discussed whether to reduce committee membership from three to two members to ease scheduling. After considering equity of assignments and the value of broader participation, the board left committee sizes as-is and proceeded to assign members based on individual preferences and administrative recommendations.
Board members also reviewed external representative appointments (for example, career & technical education advisory roles and regional associations). Speaker 2 nominated Jen Smith to run for a seat on Resource Training & Solutions; the board supported placing her on the ballot (six seats were open).
On calendar items, the board reviewed its tentative work-session schedule for 2026 and added a December 3 session. Members agreed to keep listed dates on the calendar and cancel sessions as needed, and to schedule two school-security-focused sessions annually. Administration will follow up to confirm exact meeting times and locations with city partners where required.
No formal controversies were recorded in the committee and scheduling votes; motions to establish committees and adopt the calendar passed by voice votes.
