Millington Municipal Schools Director of Schools Mr. Griffin told the board the district returned from winter break with staff engaged in professional development and planning for state testing, and that several facility projects finished over the break.
"The gym floor was updated ... the Mila playground should be finished by tomorrow," Mr. Griffin said, and he told the board a covered walkway at the primary school is complete. He also reported the Millington Middle School project is back on schedule after being nearly 41 days behind.
Mr. Griffin pointed board members to the Tennessee Department of Education's 2024–25 online state report card and said two district schools were academically eligible for posting: "The intermediate school had a B report card and the middle high school had a D," he said, adding that staff are working on areas that need improvement.
The director announced that parents' first-semester report cards will be available midweek and reminded the board the district plans a virtual town hall soon. He also introduced new hires: Kimberly Hughes, a fifth-grade ELA teacher at the intermediate school, and a new part-time custodian, Cara Hall.
Board members then heard school-level recognitions: Mila and Millington Central presenters recognized employees of the month, student honorees, and recent athletic achievements. Speakers emphasized the role of professional development and data review in guiding instruction this semester.
