Kiski Area SD presents Kinder Camp success stories, homecoming and fall events

District administrators and teachers described Kinder Camp as a brief transition program that helps incoming kindergarten students learn routines and reduce first-day anxiety. Doctor Kucak introduced the program and invited teachers and a student to report; Kelly Hodges, a third-grade teacher who taught at kindergarten during the camp, said she "hesitated applying for the position at first" but that the experience "was one of the best decisions I made," praising the program's routines and student comfort.
Carolyn Sisson said she adapted the program for autistic-support and life-skills students, describing more one-on-one time that helped acclimate students to the sensory room and the new classroom environment. A student volunteer, Liam Krakowski, gave a short perspective: "My favorite part was... the bus" and later, when prompted, said the lunches included macaroni and cheese.
Separately, the student-activities report noted the homecoming parade and dance (approximately 600 students attended) and named Riley Zielinski as the 2025 homecoming queen. The fall play "Puffs" is scheduled for Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are available online for $8. The presentations emphasized transition supports and inclusive practices for students with disabilities.
Board members thanked staff and noted the work will continue through additional orientations and transition activities across elementary schools.
