The Big Rapids City Commission approved its annual meeting schedule and updated rules of procedure during a short general-business session. The schedule maintains meetings on the first and third Mondays with exceptions for Martin Luther King Day, Labor Day and election days.

Commissioners discussed adding a one-sentence definition of the agenda item labeled "informational update" so it is clear the item is for informational briefings rather than a second public-comment period. Members agreed the definition should remain internal to distinguish it from public comment. The commission moved, seconded and approved the schedule and the rules with the requested clarification.

There were no substantive changes to the meeting cadence; staff will incorporate the definition into the rules for the next posting.
