Don Pascanoi, the field superintendent overseeing the district's middle school construction, gave the board a progress update at the Dec. 8 meeting. Pascanoi said the building is "dried in," roofing work is nearing finish at the perimeter, concrete work for the front entrance and turnaround is complete and about 50% of windows have been installed.
He described interior work in progress: ceramic tile and toilet rooms nearing completion, lockers mostly installed, gym painting and scoreboard installation done, electricians continuing lighting work, science-casework being installed, and HVAC piping and VAV boxes in place with start-up to follow. Pascanoi told the board that plumbing fixtures are largely installed and the emergency generator has been set and tied in.
Pascanoi said a revised construction schedule was expected but had not arrived before the meeting; he and the project team plan to evaluate it and hold a separate scheduling meeting once received. A board member requested a site tour for incoming board members, and Pascanoi agreed to coordinate a visit.
The superintendent emphasized weather has affected paving and scheduling and that the team meets weekly with the general contractor to press for timely updates.
