Papillion council approves road-classification resolution, passes consent agenda; pensions hearings opened

The Papillion City Council unanimously approved Resolution R260006 on Tuesday to change the federal functional classification of Capehart Road to support the planned Sarpy I‑80 interchange at South 192nd Street. Councilwoman Hoch moved to approve the resolution and Councilman Stubbe seconded; the council voted seven yeas, zero nays.
The council also approved the consent agenda by a 7–0 vote after a motion from Councilman Gaines, seconded by Councilman Glover. The consent agenda contained routine items the council handled without objection.
On ordinances, Councilman Gaines introduced Ordinance 2,075 to amend Chapter 85 of the municipal code to adopt regulations for keeping and licensing chickens; the item was introduced and will return for future consideration. The council opened and then closed public hearings for Ordinance 2,072 (amendments to the municipal police pension plan) and Ordinance 2,073 (amendments to the firefighters pension plan). No proponents or opponents spoke during those hearings.
The meeting closed without additional formal actions on the pension ordinances; any vote on those amendments will occur at a later meeting if scheduled. The council adjourned after routine committee reports and brief council comments.
