The Monona Finance and Personnel Committee on Jan. 5 approved a resolution authorizing the city to order a hook‑lift truck equipped for snow and leaf removal.
Dan introduced Resolution 26‑1‑2853, saying the purchase is funded in the 2026 capital budget and the latest price the city has received is $537,934 with an estimated two‑year delivery timeline. "This price is not locked in," he said, adding he expected a "minor increase in 2027." He told the committee a $10,000 payment is required with the chassis order.
Committee members pressed staff for timing on when the vendor locks pricing. One member asked, "So when at what point does the price get locked in?" Dan responded, "I believe it gets locked in at the time of order," and added he was awaiting confirmation from the supplier about whether some vendors lock pricing only when production begins.
Dan said he would provide an itemized cost breakdown to assist the finance director with 2026 borrowing decisions and expected to have those answers by the Jan. 20 council meeting. The committee moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
The action authorizes staff to proceed with placing the order; delivery and final cost may change depending on the supplier's pricing schedule and production timing. The city did not set a final payment schedule at the meeting and did not adopt any contract amendments beyond authorizing the order.
Next steps: staff will return the itemized cost information at the Jan. 20 council meeting to refine borrowing plans and confirm final pricing and payment timing.
