The Cheyenne Finance Committee on Jan. 6 recommended the City Council approve an ordinance that updates the terms and conditions of employment for sworn officers of the Cheyenne Police Department through the end of fiscal year 2026.

Captain David James of the Cheyenne Police Department told the committee the ordinance is a repeal-and-replace and that "the only substantive change in here is the 3% increase, the cost of living adjustment, which has already been funded and approved" and is documented in Exhibit B of the draft contract.

Councilman Moody moved to approve the ordinance on third and final reading; Councilman Wolf seconded. The committee registered three affirmative responses and forwarded a recommendation of approval to the Monday Council meeting.

The committee did not receive public comment on the item and recorded no questions beyond the staff presentation. The ordinance will appear before the full City Council at its next meeting for final action.
