Greensburg Salem board elects Courtney vice president, adopts Robert’s Rules and 2026 calendar

The Greensburg Salem School District board elected Mr. Courtney as vice president during its December reorganization session, announcing vote counts of two for Ms. Fernhauser, five for Mr. Courtney and two for Mr. Conway.

The board also voted to adopt Robert’s Rules of Order as its principal procedural guide and approved the 2026 board meeting calendar, directing the board secretary to advertise the calendar in accordance with "section 4 2 1 of the Pennsylvania school code," as announced during the meeting. Board members debated whether to keep discussion meetings on the first Wednesday of the month and voting meetings on the second Wednesday; administrators said some date changes were driven by holiday breaks and timing for agenda preparation. Several members asked that committee meeting dates be revisited in January so committees can recommend meeting cadence and any additional dates.

The board authorized signature changes on district accounts to reflect officers elected at the December 3 reorganization meeting, and the reorganization portion of the meeting adjourned before the voting session began. Nine board members were present for the voting meeting, and the board announced prior executive sessions held Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, 2025, on personnel and legal matters.

Barbara Bernal, a former board member, used public comment later in the meeting to congratulate Robin Savage for longtime volunteer support of the Greensburg Salem Education Foundation, saying Savage has been a "backbone" to the foundation’s fundraising work. The board adjourned with plans to reconvene for regular meetings in January.
