Atoka approves $95,000 payment to HCCCO for headworks project amid backordered parts

At its business meeting the council approved payment application number 13 to HCCCO in the amount of $95,000 for the headworks project. Speaker 1 introduced the item and Speaker 6 summarized the project status, telling the council that Wall Engineering’s Randy Debo reported critical parts for the grit portion of the headworks remain backordered and no firm delivery date is available.
“That they’re still having trouble getting, whatever the parts are, pertaining to the grit part of the headworks,” Speaker 6 said, and added that the contractor and engineers expressed frustration with manufacturers’ lead times. Despite the uncertainty about completion timing, the council voted to approve the payment application by roll call.
The council’s vote recorded affirmative responses from members during roll call; the payment was authorized so work and contractor invoicing can proceed pending the delayed parts. Speaker 6 said staff will continue to press the vendor and the engineer for updates on delivery and completion estimates.
What happens next: Staff will follow up with Wall Engineering and HCCCO on delivery schedules for the backordered parts and will report updates to the council as they become available.
