The project would require a 10% town match; staff estimated Needham’s grant request would be about $300,000 and said design work is the primary focus, which should make the timeline feasible. Awards in that round would be announced in late summer, with typical spending deadlines tied to fiscal cycles.
Committee members discussed competitiveness and timing; staff noted the program is well funded but competitive and that increasing the town match might help competitiveness. The committee agreed the project and any required vote to approve match funds will follow the same internal approval flow used for other grant matches.
