Nantucket Trust re‑releases RFP for year‑round deed‑restriction pilot; applications due Jan. 28

At the meeting Jan. 6, Penny Dye, vice chair of the Affordable Housing Trust, announced the Trust has re‑released a request for proposals for a year‑round deed‑restriction pilot program.

Dye said the program "aims to provide housing stability, security, and affordability for people living and working year round on Nantucket." Under the program the Trust will offer financial incentives to property owners who place permanent deed restrictions limiting sale or rental of the homes to year‑round residents. Interested parties should apply and submit questions through the OpenGov procurement portal.

Staff said the application period is open through Jan. 28 and awards will be announced on Feb. 27; the deadline to submit inquiries is Jan. 9. Staff noted all applicant questions and answers will be posted to OpenGov so responses are publicly available to all applicants as required by the RFP process.

The announcement was made during the meeting's announcements section; board members later discussed holding a public seminar to explain options for property owners, including deed restrictions, covenants and buy‑downs.
