The Huron City Commission voted Jan. 5 to approve a 2026 joint cooperative agreement with the Northeast Council of Governments to provide grant administration services for the city.

Pauline Carey reported to the commission that the council "does our grant administration" and helps the city with programs through several state and regional channels. Carey said a cost-of-living increase line item was listed as $3,613.23 in the staff materials and that staff recommended approval. "They do our grant administration," Carey said.

Commissioners discussed the value of the service during the meeting; one commissioner described the council's assistance as instrumental in securing funds the city would not otherwise have obtained. The agreement appeared on the consent agenda and was approved by roll-call vote.

The agenda text contains a transcription artifact showing "NASDAQ" in one line; meeting statements, however, refer throughout to the Northeast Council of Governments as the partner for the cooperative agreement.

Outcome: the commission approved the cooperative agreement as presented (vote recorded as all present voting aye).
