Franklin City’s Board of Public Works and Safety appointed Michael Spunberg to a one-year term on the Planning Commission, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of long-serving commissioner Jim Martin.

The presiding official explained that Jim Martin had served many years and stepped down for health reasons. The board discussed the timing of the prior appointment and confirmed Michael Spunberg had expressed willingness to serve again. A board member moved to appoint Spunberg and the motion carried by voice vote.

Spunberg will take the seat for the one-year appointment; staff said they will record the appointment and provide meeting orientation and materials as needed.
