Franklin City’s Board of Public Works and Safety voted to accept a public right-of-way dedication on Earlywood Drive so a proposed Wawa Food Mart and fuel station can construct an entrance.
Joanna Tennell, planning director for the Wawa development, told the board the developer required additional right-of-way from the property owner to the south, identified in documents as James S. Fletcher, and that Fletcher had signed the necessary paperwork. “They are proposing an entrance off of Earlywood Drive,” Tennell said, and the right-of-way documents were submitted for the board’s consideration.
A board member moved to approve the right-of-way and another seconded; the item passed by voice vote. Board members clarified they had not been given any indication from the developer about a construction start date.
The approval authorizes acceptance of the right-of-way documents for the Earlywood Drive frontage. The board did not set or announce a timeline for site work; planning staff said they will notify the council and the public when a project schedule is available.
