Cochise County jail district approves $69,567 transfer to cover PetroMed contract

The Cochise County Jail District board unanimously approved a $69,567 transfer from the Cochise County general fund contingency to the jail district medical fund to cover the remaining portion of a medical director oversight and support contract with PetroMed LLC.

Director Gomez (District 2) moved the motion, saying, "Mister chair, I move we approve the use of $69,567 of general fund contingency and inter fund transfer for medical director oversight and support contract with PetroMed LLC for veil medical." Miss Gilman, county staff, told the board the amount was needed to cover the remainder of the contract that the board had approved in late November: "This item is to move from general fund consent contingency, an amount of $69,567 to the veil district medical fund for the PetroMed, contract that the board approved in late November." She added that departments had contributed from their own budgets but the remaining balance still required a transfer.

The chair clarified the source of the money, noting the funds come from the county general fund and "This is not coming out of the jail district revenue." Board members voted in favor and the motion carried 3-0.

The item was presented as the jail district portion of a broader PetroMed agreement; Miss Gilman said the regular board meeting’s agenda item 10 covered the health department portion. The board did not request further public comment and took no amendments to the motion.

The approval moves the specified $69,567 into the jail district medical fund to cover the current fiscal year obligation under the PetroMed contract.
