Dolton resource hub, nonprofits and Rutgers outline upcoming community programs

Several community organizations used the citizens' address to announce programs at the Dolton Resource Hub and nearby locations.

Angela Russell, identified in public comment as a Dolton resident and a mental‑health specialist with Envision Unlimited, described a mental health first aid certification course the agency will offer at the Resource Hub. Russell said the training is "free for clergy/faith leaders" and costs $30 for others; attendees who meet eligibility can earn 7.5 CEUs and a three‑year certification. Russell provided January session dates and contact information for sign‑ups.

Ea Lewis of Sustainable Options for Urban Living promoted a state‑sanctioned, income‑qualified solar program administered by Elevate (formerly Elevate Energy). Lewis said eligible homeowners may receive solar installations at no upfront cost through the program and announced virtual workshops on Jan. 22, Jan. 29 and Feb. 5 to provide assessments and enrollment information.

Latoya Newman representing Rutgers Athletics reported that the village pool repairs are complete and the grand opening is scheduled for Jan. 23 at 1:00 p.m.; the program will offer free registration in January and discounted rates for seniors and community members.

Trustee Belcher offered sponsorship for the first 10 Dolton residents who sign up for the mental health training, and trustees agreed to post program flyers in the resource hub and share contact information for follow‑up.
