Monroe City Council adopts zoning change for 317 West Front Street parcels

Monroe City Council voted unanimously to adopt the final reading of an ordinance to amend the city zoning map for parcels at 317 West Front Street. Councilwoman Jermaine Sperghe moved to place proposed ordinance 25-010 on the floor for final reading; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll call with all members voting in favor.

The council had considered the item in prior meetings, including a work session and a first reading. At the meeting the clerk announced a public hearing on the proposed ordinance; there were no written comments on file and no in-person testimony, and the mayor closed the hearing before the final vote.

City staff said the ordinance implements a zoning-map amendment under chapter 7.20 of the municipal code. Manager Robinson noted the item had been vetted through prior meetings and public notice requirements were met. The council took the final reading and adopted the ordinance that night.

The adoption completes the formal local-approval step; staff did not state any additional approvals were required beyond the city process. The council did not record any amendments to the ordinance during the final-reading vote.
