Weber County to sponsor CDBG application for emergency rental assistance

He said the funding would allow a one-time rental payment after a household exhausted other resources and that participants would be expected to participate in a budgeting class and demonstrate the ability to pay full rent going forward.
Commissioners discussed the county's role as sponsor and its need to add the potential CDBG project to the county's capital improvement plan for 2026–2030. A motion to support the Weber Housing Authority's CDBG application was moved, seconded, and approved by the commission.
The commission did not adopt specific budget allocations at the meeting; staff said additional details and applications will follow if the county proceeds with sponsorship and the Housing Authority pursues the grant.
