The Lane County Board of Commissioners elected its leadership for 2026 on Tuesday, moving Commissioner Seneca into the chair role and Commissioner Heather Buck into the vice chair position.

Commissioner Farr moved to nominate Commissioner Seneca as chair; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Trigger and passed unanimously, 5–0. Commissioners later nominated and voted to appoint Commissioner Buck as vice chair; that motion also passed 5–0.

Board members said the leadership changes reflected customary annual rotation and expressed a commitment to productive and timely meetings this year. Newly seated Chair Seneca thanked colleagues for their trust and asked for patience and frank discussion, saying the panel would not always agree and that different votes were part of representing distinct districts. Vice Chair Buck and other commissioners pledged to support efficient, civil meetings.

No formal policy decisions were attached to the leadership votes beyond procedural duties; the board proceeded to regular agenda items.
