At its annual organizational meeting on Jan. 5 the Livingston County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Nick Fiani as board chair for 2026 and Commissioner Drake as vice chair, both by unanimous votes.
Following nominations, the board carried the routine votes: the chair election was approved 9–0 and the vice chair vote was similarly unanimous. The board then adopted the rules of the board for 2026 and established meeting dates after several amendments were offered and resolved: a requirement for remote participants to state their name and municipality for the record, committee meeting-date changes for August and November to avoid conflicts with elections, and an amendment to add supervisory reporting on county attorney activities to a committee's duties. Each amendment passed and the final rules-and-calendar resolution was approved 9–0.
The board also approved standard housekeeping items, including approval of the Dec. 15, 2025 minutes. The chair asked staff to circulate the finalized rule language and reprint the updated calendar for distribution to commissioners.
