At the Jan. 5 meeting, council members and residents told the City Council they have observed clear-cutting and grading at nearby development sites that they said have increased runoff and left construction debris at the edge of Brick Pond Park.
One council member said he found roofing staples, plastic fittings and other debris along the water's edge and reported images of wildlife harmed by debris; he urged the administration to act and to identify the responsible contractor. City Administrator (Miss Clifford) said the developer has met development-code requirements and that public works staff have visited and remeasured buffers required by code. She also said the city will commission a third-party wetlands delineation for Parcel D near the stadium to verify 25-foot buffers and confirm how much land is available for infrastructure.
Staff reminded the dais that Brick Pond functions as part of the stormwater-treatment system and that the city will use code enforcement for compliance matters; the mayor urged citizens to use the city’s informational materials and to report violations. Council requested code-enforcement follow-up and ongoing monitoring as the developer completes site work.
Separately, staff updated the council that the Walnut Lane boardwalk base is complete and that railings and curbing will be finished by January; bollard equipment for Riverside Village has begun arriving.
