The Pryor Creek City Council voted to approve two personnel hires during its January 6 meeting.

The council approved hiring Matthew Harms, identified in the meeting as a CLEET-certified officer, as patrolman range J step 2 to fill the vacancy created by Tanner Reese's resignation effective Jan. 12, 2026. Chief Cantrell noted Harms was coming from the city of Salina's police department and that the hire does not trigger a reimbursement obligation to Salina. Council members moved and seconded the hire and recorded affirmative votes to approve the appointment.

The council also approved hiring Brealey Crawford as communications officer range R step 2 to fill the vacancy created by Katie Pillmeier's resignation effective Jan. 19, 2026. Bradshaw moved the motion and Brashears seconded; the council recorded affirmative votes and the hire was approved. Meeting discussion noted Crawford lives in Stroud and is transitioning from the Parekh (sic) police department.

No salaries or start dates were discussed in detail at the meeting; council members recorded votes approving both hires by voice/roll call during the personnel items.
