Davenport CAC sets Jan. 20 work session and Feb. 9 presentations for Year 52 CDBG review

The Davenport City Citizens Advisory Committee agreed Jan. 5 to make the Year 52 application review process available to members through an optional work session and a scheduled presentation meeting.
Heather, a city staff member, said staff conducted summer public input, assembled required studies and census and HUD data, and used that information to develop local objectives that the CAC and city council previously reviewed and adopted. She said applications were due Dec. 31 and that requests traditionally exceed available funds. "For the upcoming year, we've received no information or guidance from HUD on what to expect for funding," Heather said. She estimated public-services funding at approximately $250,000 and the overall grant slightly in excess of $1.5 million, noting those figures are staff estimates while HUD guidance is pending.
Staff proposed an optional work session for Jan. 20 at Eastern Avenue Library at 6 p.m., and a presentation meeting for applicants on Monday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. Committee members discussed attendance at the optional work session; Elizabeth, a CAC member, said presentations are useful for new members and only take about five minutes per agency. Members agreed to offer both opportunities: presentations on Feb. 9 and a Jan. 20 work session available for members who wish to attend. Staff will collect emailed questions from members who cannot attend the work session and distribute written applicant responses to the full CAC.
Heather reminded members that the Feb. meeting is one week later than usual and that CAC terms run two years (April to March), with the April meeting marking the start of a new two-year term. She also said she would send members a current CAC membership list and contact information.
The committee did not take formal votes on the work session or presentation date; both were set by consensus and staff will follow up by email.
