DuPage County transportation committee approves package of contracts for signs, equipment and engineering

Each contract included up to three one-year renewal options upon mutual agreement.
The committee also approved equipment purchases and larger professional services contracts. Unidentified Chair presented a Vermeer chipper (Vermeer, Illinois) contract not to exceed $139,398 and a Caterpillar 962 wheel loader (Altor for Industries Incorporated) not to exceed $364,510, both noted as procured pursuant to the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act. The committee approved professional construction engineering services for improvements along County Highway 23 (Naperville Road) by Thomas Engineering Group for up to $770,583 and for improvements along County Highway 21 (Fabian Parkway) by Civil Tech Engineering for up to $1,830,747, with staff noting professional services selection followed applicable local government selection processes.
On procedural questions about schedule and estimated construction cost for the Civil Tech project, staff told the committee the construction is expected later in the year and estimated in the roughly $17,000,000 range; bidding is planned for this year with some initial pre‑work possibly starting late in the season.
The chair called the block vote after confirming there were no further questions; committee members responded “Aye,” and the block of contract approvals carried.
The meeting also included approvals of change orders, amendments to extend project completion dates to Jan. 6, 2030, and additional appropriations for the township reimbursement fund, which the committee approved with no substantive objection.
