Orange County employees raised $1,479,127 for the Heart of Florida United Way at a Survivor-themed victory celebration on Dec. 18, 2025, an event speaker said.
The celebration, which organizers styled after the television show Survivor, used the theme to spotlight five pillars of United Way work—health, basic needs, ALICE families, financial stability, education and opportunity—and to publicly recognize executive committee volunteers, Speaker 1 said.
Speaker 5 announced the precise fundraising total, calling it the largest amount Orange County employees have ever raised for the Heart of Florida United Way. Earlier in the program Speaker 2 described the campaign as having "made history," referencing a broadly reported milestone of $1,400,000; the transcript later records the specific total $1,479,127.
Officials credited the result to voluntary employee participation and three major events: a United Way golf tournament, the 343 challenge and countywide parking events. Speaker 2 said every county department participated and noted that Community and Family Services, the sheriff's office and Utilities each raised more than $100,000.
Speakers at the event emphasized the local impact of the funds. "You are making a difference in the lives of average people in our community," Speaker 4 said, summarizing the county staff perspective on how donations are used.
The celebration also included a leadership transition: campaign chair Terry Debit completed a final year and the role was passed to incoming campaign chair Lind Wolf, Speaker 2 said. Speaker 6 urged staff to "keep stepping it up" and said the goal for next year is to exceed this year's total.
The event text in the transcript frames the celebration as both a fundraiser and a morale-building exercise for county staff; no formal motions or votes were recorded in the transcript.
