Troy Van Duzen re-elected chair; Commissioner McElhaney confirmed vice chair

The Codington County Board of Commissioners opened nominations for board officers on Jan. 6. After nominations and ballots, Troy Van Duzen received four of five votes and was declared chair for 2026.
Nominations for vice chair followed. A motion to nominate Commissioner McElhaney for vice chair was made and seconded; the board approved the nomination by voice vote.
The auditor managed the tallying of ballots and announced the results. The board moved immediately into other business after the confirmations.
