The Howard County Board of Commissioners opened its first meeting of 2026 by confirming leadership and announcing a staff appointment. Commissioners voted to keep "mister Dodd" as board president after a motion by a fellow commissioner and then approved "mister Bray" as vice president by voice vote.

Chair thanked both members and asked whether any additional appointments were needed; the board confirmed none were required for "mister Wilson." The board formally recognized Tracy Powell, commissioner from Tipton County, who was attending the meeting.

In staffing news, the board announced that Michelle had accepted the McKinsey director position following a five-person interview process and committee recommendation; the appointment was stated to be effective immediately. The board offered its thanks to Michelle and said it expects her to begin work right away.
