The Eden Prairie City Council closed the public hearing and moved to direct staff to prepare a development agreement and authorize an early land alteration permit for a proposed Wings Financial Credit Union at the northwest corner of the Cub Foods parking lot at 8015 Den Road.
Lori Brockman of Pope Design Group, the applicant’s presenter, said Wings has built similar prototypes and that the proposed building would be roughly 3,300 square feet. “Wings Credit Union has approximately 950,000 members. Of those members, approximately 6,000 call Eden Prairie home,” Brockman said during her presentation.
City staff and applicant representatives answered council questions about trees and parking: staff said several trees in an existing landscape island must be removed for utility connections but will be replaced at a 1‑for‑1 ratio under the approved landscape plan. Staff also said the site will still exceed city code parking requirements by roughly 30 stalls after the project is built.
Council moved to close the public hearing and direct staff to prepare a development agreement that incorporates staff and planning commission recommendations and council conditions, and to authorize issuance of an early land alteration permit subject to the conditions outlined in the permit. The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will draft the development agreement and return it to council for final approval, and the early land alteration permit may be issued once permit conditions are satisfied.
