Vice Chair Townsend told the Tulare County Board of Supervisors that a $14.6 million federal appropriation for the Success Reservoir enlargement has advanced through an appropriations process and was sponsored by Rep. Tom Fong and cosponsored by Rep. David Valadao. Townsend said the funding "was going through the energy and water appropriations" and that "there's still some other hoops to jump through" before it is secured.
Townsend said the appropriation would benefit downstream users and that he had thanked both representatives for their efforts. He framed the update as good news for a local water project but cautioned that additional administrative or congressional steps remain.
Townsend also reported upcoming Groundwater Sustainability Agency meetings as that local agency prepares for a transition in management.
