The Howard County Drainage Board approved Kokomo Oaks Campground’s updated site drainage plan on the condition that the county issues the required stormwater permit. The applicant told the board that updated plans had been submitted and that they were coordinating with county staff; the stormwater reviewer said a permit had not yet been issued but he did not anticipate problems.

The applicant described using low-impact development techniques, including geogrid parking surfaces with gravel infill and routing roadway drainage to those surfaces to reduce runoff. The applicant said a variance was granted to allow the geogrid parking in lieu of conventional paving, and that detention will use an existing pond rather than constructing a new pond.

Board member Mr. Dodd moved to approve the plan contingent on the stormwater permit; Mr. Bray seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote. The board recorded no roll-call vote in the transcript. Next procedural steps are issuance of the stormwater permit and planning commission review on Jan. 20.
