At the end of its Jan. 6 study session the Farmers Branch City Council read four items into the record and recessed to a closed executive session.
The presiding officer announced the council would meet in closed session under Texas Government Code §551.074 to deliberate personnel matters related to the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties or discipline of a municipal court judge and under Farmers Branch Code of Ordinances section 28‑23 for the same purpose. The council also listed an economic development item under Texas Government Code §551.087 to discuss financial incentives and an offer for a hotel business the city seeks to retain or expand. A third item invoked Texas Government Code §551.071 to consult with the city attorney on matters related to Dallas Area Rapid Transit, including correspondence, programs, funding and agreements. A final item invoked §551.074 again for discussion of the city manager's employment and evaluation.
The presiding officer recessed the open meeting and directed the council to the City Manager's Conference Room to convene the closed session. No formal action was taken in open session on these matters; any action, if taken, will be recorded in the meeting minutes following the closed session.
