Lee, a Public Works representative, presented the proposed public works council contract for 2026–2028 and summarized the chief terms: a three‑year term, a 3% wage increase each year and language revisions to reflect Minnesota paid family and medical leave cost‑sharing between the employer and the council.
"The features of the contract ... is a 3 year contract. Notably, there is a 3% wage adjustment each year," Lee said. He thanked commissioners and staff who participated in negotiations and noted multiple language revisions to clarify leave and other contractual items.
A commissioner moved to approve the contract and a second was received. The board carried the motion on roll call.
The contract approval allows the county and the public works council to implement the wage adjustments and the updated language; county staff said the cooperative negotiations included commissioner participation and public works management input. The board did not amend the contract during the meeting.
Next steps: the chair will sign the contract and county staff will implement the payroll changes negotiated in the agreement.
