Board approves Reiss property assessment refunds and routine budget transfers
Summary
The board approved assessment appeal adjustments for two Reiss properties totaling about $70,000 and voted to approve routine monthly budget transfers; administration also updated the board on several RFPs in progress.
The North Penn School District Board approved two assessment-appeal actions for Reiss Properties (1218 Welsh Road and 1222 Welsh Road) that the administration said would require roughly $70,000 in total adjustments and refunds. The board moved and seconded the appeals and voted to send the item to the action meeting for final processing.
The board also approved the district’s routine monthly budgetary transfers, including a transfer from transportation fuel to software licensing for bus-tracking systems after administrators explained the change to a board member. Board members had no further objection and approved the transfers at the meeting.
Administration provided updates on several RFP processes: six respondents to the general-liability insurance RFP, eight to 10 respondents to a feasibility-study RFP, and seven respondents to a demographic-study RFP. Administrators outlined a tentative timeline for interviews and committee review with the aim of resolving insurance and feasibility selections in upcoming months.
The finance director also presented an early budget timeline and noted a modest projected reduction in pension expense rates (reported as a drop from about 34% to approximately 33.59%) and a 5% workers’ compensation premium credit tied to the district’s safety-committee certification. The board agreed to move several agenda items to the work session and set the next meeting for Feb. 3.
