Parkview–Zion Road signal project will proceed without Liquid Fuels grant, borough says

Bellefonte staff informed council on Jan. 5 that the state Liquid Fuels program will not provide financial assistance for the Parkview–Zion Road traffic-signal project, but the borough has appropriated funds and plans to proceed.
Council members were shown a letter from the commissioners indicating Liquid Fuels funding was not available for this project. Borough staff said the project has already been awarded, permit(s) issued, materials procured and that funding for the full cost is appropriated in the 2026 municipal budget, with portions coming from the bulk water fund and capital reserve accounts. Staff said the intention is to have the signal installed and fully functional by the end of the year. Council discussed other possible funding applications but were told there were no active applications at the time.
No formal vote was required to confirm the status; staff framed the update as information for council and the public and confirmed that procurement and permitting steps are underway.
