Students, a parent and school principals presented a short video highlighting programs and academic outcomes at Lincoln Street School and Main Street School, and asked the community to support the district.
Student Jenny Rose said, "Lincoln Street School is amazing," citing participation in Peacemaker's Grama Club, band and chorus and Girls on the Run. On camera, students named plants grown in a classroom hydroponic station ("rosemary," "basil," "cucumbers") and noted that second graders turn cucumbers into pickles. Student Calum said he feels he belongs, and that he participates in student council and the green team. Parent Chrissy Bailey, a former PTO president, said teachers and staff "go above and beyond" to support students academically and socially.
Principal Ryan McCleskey noted Lincoln Street School's assessment outcomes and said the school was one of nine recognized by the New Hampshire Department of Education for outstanding growth in science. McCleskey reported Lincoln Street School proficiency rates as 72% in math (reported as 24 percentage points above the state average), 70% in English language arts (17 points above) and 63% in science (25 points above the state average).
Beth Cadarette described districtwide instructional consistency and a personalized learning block called Win Time ("What I Need") that groups students for tailored support. The video also highlighted PTO community events (get fit runs, glow parties and a movie night) intended to keep students active and engaged.
The presenters tied these program highlights to the budget discussion and asked for community support during the budget process.
