Councilman Hoffman moved to approve the transport-truck purchase; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Jed said the truck purchase falls within the budget the commission approved last month.
For replacement of a loader, staff recommended a John Deere 544P at a quoted price of $207,724 (state contract vendor). Councilman Wardle moved and Councilman Thomas seconded; the commission approved the purchase by voice vote.
Staff indicated both purchases are replacements for equipment that is old or undersized and that procurement followed state-contract quotations and the budget approved in the previous month. Commissioners briefly discussed whether larger budgeted purchases should return to the commission for confirmation and asked staff to consider thresholds as part of an update to the county’s purchasing policy.
